ADIPS is developing a compliance /audit programme for Inspection Bodies.  The programme will assess ADIPS inspection body’s compliance with the relevant requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17020 and also verify that standards of work comply with HSG 175 Fairgrounds and amusement parks: guidance on safe practice.

The programme will begin with a series of pilot assessments in 2012 and will be tailored to the size and scope of each inspection body.  Assessments will primarily focus on the on-site performance of inspectors but will also include a review of relevant documentation to establish the Inspection Body’s compliance with ISO/IEC 17020.

ADIPS have engaged Health and Safety Engineering Consultants (HSEC) to carry out the pilot  assessments.  Assessment methods will be broadly similar to those used by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) when assessing inspection bodies for formal accreditation thus providing an insight into and preparing an inspection body for the process for formal accreditation to become a UKAS accredited engineering inspection body.
